iOS Ports: The Fall

If you've checked Steam recently, you might have seen a "new" game called Deus Ex: The Fall. This game is a port of an iOS game by the same name. Unfortunately, the port was a piece of shit.

It has various bugs in the game. On bug I encountered was when I was taking cover behind a bunch of barrels, I picked up the pocket secretary on top of it, and it caused me to clip through the ground. I did a non-lethal takedown on a person while we were both under a bridge, but the pre-animated takedown played out above the bridge. The controls are considerably changed from Human Revolution, because the controls are straight from the iOS version just reassigned to keys on the keyboard.

Unfortunately, there have been a large number of games on Steam's new releases tab that are just ports of an iOS game that's been out and was popular. Steam is on a downhill right now. It needs to start building up again. Starting with quality control.

Milking Birds

So... Who liked the original Angry Birds? I certainly liked it. Then they made Angry Birds Rio, Angry Birds Star Wars, and Angry Birds Space. Now they're just stretching the franchise out. They made Bad Piggies? OK. Makes a bit of sense to create a game for the opposing side. Angry Bird Go? Now you're starting to milk. A racing game based off a franchise that was originally a physics-based game about fling birds? That's ridiculous. Now they're making Angry Birds Epic. A turn based RPG using characters from the Angry Birds franchise. Damn you Angry Birds, you used to be cool.

Making Angry Birds into a turn-based RPG is bad for three reasons that come to mind right now.

1. Angry Birds was a physics game about throwing birds at pigs
2. Turn-based RPGs don't have interesting gameplay anymore after the countless amount of them
3. Angry Birds is going to far and is now only crushing a loved franchise by milking it

Lots of series have been over-sequelized and milked. The App Store was special because people could make low budget gimmicks that were new and fun to play with. Seeing all those Flappy Bird rip-offs along with Rovio milking a franchise has made me lose faith in the App Store. We need more creative gameplay mechanics and fresh ideas on the plate. Not these pieces of shit given out in exchange for nothing but money.

A Basic Introduction to DC's Superheroes (The New 52!)

If you don't know what DC Comics is, you really are sad. DC Comics is a business that creates graphic novels featuring: Superman, Batman, Green Lantern, and various other superheroes. The New 52 is when DC rebooted their whole universe to welcome new readers. This is going to be a short about some of the New 52 comics I know and am aware of.

The Justice League is a group of superheroes that banded together to combat villains together. The current roster that I know is Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Atom, The Flash, Firestorm, and Element Woman. They're the big kids.

Aquaman is the King of Atlantis and has the ability to talk to and command fish. He has various relatives that want him dead, but also has the support of The Justice League. Sounds a bit bland.

The Flash was struck by a bolt of lightning while simultaneously being doused in chemicals. He gained the ability to run really fast. Like, reeeeeeeeeeeeally fast.

Green Lantern is a title given to various members of the Green Lantern Corps. Notable lanterns include: Guy Gardner, Hal Jordan, John Stewart, and Sinestro.

The Emotional Spectrum consists of various groups based on color and emotion. Green Lantern Corps. are green and represent will, Sinestro Corps. are yellow and represent fear, the Star Sapphires are pink and represent love, Indigo Tribe is indigo and represent compassion, the Blue Lanterns are blue and represent hope, Red Lanterns are red and represent rage, Orange Lantern(s) is orange and represents greed, Black Lanterns are black and represent Death, White Lantern(s) are white and represent life. The color coded cavalry will take a bit of memorization.

Green Arrow is a character I don't really pay attention to. Green Arrow dresses in green and shoots trick arrows. He's the grass-type version of Hawkeye.

Wonder Woman is an amazon born from clay with super strength, durability, and flight. She wields a magical sword, a lasso that forces you to tell the truth (Lasso of Truth), and a shield. She has encountered various Greek gods suck as Hades, Ares, Zeus, and others. Them Christians won't like this...

Captain Atom volunteered in an experiment and obtained nuclear powers. He is the BOMB.

Batman had his parents killed when he was he little. He vowed to wage a one man war on crime. Now he has Batman Inc. on his side, all around the world. Bruce Wayne, billionaire playboy by day, brooding vigilante by night.

Batman Inc. consists of superheroes related to Gotham or Batman, such as Nightwing or Batgirl, or international versions of Batman such as Mr. Unknown and Night Runner. Just so you know.

Superman came from an alien planet, Krypton. He has laser vision, freeze breath, super breath, super strength, super durability, and a vulnerability to magic, but not physical attacks. He is the super moralistic good guy who wants to save everyone. His human identity is Clark Kent, a reported for the Daily Planet. He is totally OP.


Justice League International is another group of superheroes, but these have public identities. The team consists of Booster Gold, Fire, Ice, Rocket Red (Gavril Ivanovich),Green Lantern, Vixen, August General in Iron, and Godiva. Think normal Justice League, but made with PR in mind.


Justice League Dark is a magic based team of superheroes. The team consists of John Constantine, Frankenstein, Deadman, Black Orchid, Madame Zandu, Swamp Thing, Nightmare Nurse, and Pandora. This base is the House of Mystery, which Constantine won in a poker game with Father Time and Dr Occult.


John Constantine is a British con-man and chain smoker. His primary tool is using his wits to get out of bad situations backed up with magic. A running theme was that everyone close to him dies. I would not recommend the New 52 series and would recommend Hellblazer from Vertigo.


Animal Man is Buddy Baker, a superhero with the power of other animals. His daughter is part of the Red, a counterpart to the Green, representing living flesh. He just got divorced after an incident with the Green, Rot, and Red got his son killed. Ouch.


Swamp Thing was Alec Holland and is now a representative of the Green, which is plant life, and is in love with Abigail Arcane, a representative of the rot, which is rotting flesh (Think sentient zombies).


Trinity of Sin consists of three people who have committed the greatest sins of all of mankind. It consists of The Phantom Stranger, Pandora, and The Question. They got a big spanking from God.


Pandora is a gun-shooting Pandora from Greek mythology. She is a member of the Trinity of Sin for unleashing Pandora's Box. She tries to redeem herself by re-using the box. Smart move.


The Phantom Stranger, famously known as Judas. The one who betrayed Jesus. Now he is a member of the Trinity of Sin, doomed to walked the Earth until thirty debts are repaid for the thirty pieces of silver.


Dial Bunch (from Dial H) is a group of "heroes" from various universes that were affected by a Dial. The H-Dial causes the dialer to turn into a random hero from a random universe. The E-Dial is the same but with villains. Various Dials do various things. The group consists of Nelson Jent, Open-Window Man, Manteau, and other forgettable characters.

The New Blog

I'm basically going to say whatever I feel like here. So if you're reading this, you probably don't have anything better to do anyway. If you feel like you just wasted your time reading this, you can only blame yourself...

Not much to say in an intro... so lets stick with basic facts:

I really, really, really like video games. Especially on PC.

I read a lot of comic books.

I probably won't write that much.
